It’s hard to measure discipleship! But we believe these “five marks” are a good starting point for anyone who wants to grow.

1. CONNECT: Displays the fruit of the Spirit and responsiveness to the Spirit’s leading.

2. BE: Engages daily in spiritual practices that lead to transformation (including accountable community, prayer, Scripture, and other spiritual disciplines).

3. LOVE: Demonstrates sacrificial love and grace, and pursues relational health.

4. SERVE: Exercises his or her gifts and calling to serve inside and outside church walls.

5. MULTIPLY: Invests relationally and intentionally to reproduce disciples and leaders for Jesus’ mission.

The APEST Five Fold Ministry assessment comes from Ephesians 4:7, 11-12, which reads, “But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”
